SciFi-SciFacts Poster
17 April 2019

Science fiction is a way of imagining the future. Science facts is a way of understanding the present. Combining the two is entertaining and informative. Our sampling of Clifford D. Simak's The Junkyard, provided a context for discussions by Dr. John Harkness and Dr. Mark Kramer, both on faculty at Washington State University Vancouver. Harkness, a postdoctoral researcher in neuroscience, talked about how memories are formed, stored, altered, updated and forgotten. Kramer, associate professor in the School of Environment, talked about causes and consequences of climate change.

Live performance by Metropolitan Performing Arts actors, other community volunteers, and presentations by scientists from Washington State University Vancouver at Kiggins Theatre in downtown Vancouver, Washington. Streamed live on KXRW-FM, Vancouver's community radio.
